Orange Street Elementary
Can you have a “full circle” moment when you are only eight years old? Mrs. Jasmine Jones, a 4th grade teacher at Orange Street Elementary, shares a special connection with Christian. From the time we moved to York, PA when Christian was one, she took care of him in the church nursery (until she went off to college)! Fast forward seven years and a half years, and Christian was a guest at her school to dedicate their Buddy Bench! Mrs. Jones and the staff at Orange Street put together such a special assembly. We were truly honored to be a part of it. After Christian’s speech, there were two great speeches by Student Council Representatives, followed by a touching speech by a fifth grade student. That student won an essay contest about the Buddy Bench and, as a result, was the first person to sit on the Buddy Bench with Christian after the ribbon cutting. Christian was honored to receive the “Top Dog” award, which was presented by the mayor of Berwick. The assembly concluded with a great Q&A between Christian and the students! Thank you, Orange Street Elementary staff and students, for welcoming us with open arms and embracing the Buddy Bench. We know it will be immensely successful at your school!

What is the Buddy Bench?
Roundtown Elementary helped make this possible, and we thank them for being receptive to Christian's idea!
